Street Robbery Ends With An Arrest

A 53 year old Saskatoon woman is in police custody charged with Robbery.

At approximately 10:40pm on Friday night police were called to the area of the 800 Block of 22nd Street West after witnesses observed what they thought was a robbery.

When police arrived they spoke to the victim, a 67 year old Saskatoon man. He informed police that he had been walking home when a woman approached him and started up a conversation. She then forcibly took $35 cash from the victim causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then fled on foot.

The witnesses provided a good description of the suspect and officers in the area were able to quickly find her in the area of 20th Street and Avenue I South. They observed the suspect throwing something away and after her arrest, a police service dog located the stolen cash.

The accused will see a JP later today.
