At approximately 4:20 pm March 24, 2008 a 26 year old female pedestrian stopped a car in the area of Ave U and 21st St. She was given a ride after she said she was being chased by two males. After she got in the vehicle, she said that she had a knife and was able to obtain a small amount of money from the driver. He was able to drop her at the rear of a business at 20th St. and Ave H.
She then went around the front of the business and jumped into a vehicle driven by a female. The vehicle left and returned. She jumped out of the vehicle, with a purse, then walked away.
The suspect female was then picked up by another vehicle in the area of 20th St. and Ave H, this time with a male as well. They drove to the area of Ave K and 17th with the female getting the driver in an head lock while robbing him. The driver jumped out of the car and the female drove the car away with her male companion.
While taking the carjacking complaint at Ave K and 17th St, the attending officers saw the stolen vehicle traveling through an intersection a few blocks away. They alerted other K-9 and Patrol cars in the area.
At approximately 6:00p.m. a ninety second police chase ensued. It came to a conclusion when she lost control at Witney Ave and 20th St. After running from the vehicle a 26 year old female and a 29 year old male were arrested. No vehicles were damaged in the chase although there was minor damage to a fence.
The 26 year old female had Warrants of Arrest from Regina for Breach of Probation and Break and Enter. At present the police are investigating three robberies but she will only face Two counts of Robbery until all complainants have been located. At docket court on March 25th she will also face charges of Obstruct Police Officer, Impaired Driving, Dangerous Driving, Fail to Stop for Police, Numerous Breaches of Conditions and a traffic ticket for Drive While Suspended.
At court on the 25th of March, the 29 year old Saskatoon male will appear on charges of Robbery and Possession Under $5000 as well as a 4(1) C.DS.A. (drug possession).
