A 66 year old Saskatoon Man has been charged with 1st degree murder in regard to the shooting this morning at a residence in the 200 block Taylor St. east. The accused will be appearing before a Justice of the Peace on all charges.
Additional charges include:
-2 charges of attempted murder regarding 2 female victims
-possession of a restricted firearm
-fail to supply breath sample into approved screening device
-3 breach charges pertaining to court orders
The victim's mother and the accused were involved in an argument. At some point the mother's 27 year old son got involved and was shot by the accused. The victim was able to exit the dwelling, go to a neighbors. He was rushed by ambulance to hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
After the shooting, the accused fled the scene in a vehicle. A description of the vehicle was given out. Shortly after this, the vehicle was stopped by Patrol Officers in the area of 18th Street and Ave P. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Police Station.
Throughout the day several witnesses were interviewed by Major Crime Detectives and the crime scene processed by Forensic Identification Officers.
An autopsy is scheduled for 09:30 Monday March 31, 2008.
The name of the victim will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
