At approximately 2:05 am April 1, 2008 a patrol car pulled over a vehicle at Pendygrasse Rd. and McCormack Rd. for a traffic stop. Prior to the officers leaving their vehicle, while doing the computer checks, the vehicle left. A chase of approximately one minute ensued before it was called off by a supervisor. As the officers where disengaging from the chase, the suspect lost control of his vehicle causing damage to two parked vehicles in the 400 blk and to three parked vehicles in the 300 blk of Pendygrasse Rd.
A foot chase ensued with the two officers containing the suspect in the area of some townhouses. At this time he pulled out a gun and placed it against his head. He made several demands and said he was not going back to jail. The officers could hear him cock the handgun while he was making his demands. A third officer came into assist and was able to talk him into putting the gun down.
The gun turned out to be a replica of a police Glock. It was made of an alloy metal and is capable of being cocked or racked.
