Saskatoon Police would like to advise the public about a scam that has recently reappeared in the city.
The scam consists of a male telephoning numbers at random and offering stolen plasma TV's for hundreds of dollars below retail price. He requests to meet the victim at a location and asks for the money up front. In all cases he takes the money and leaves the location. The victim loses the money and does not receive a TV. The male conducting the scam has been in contact with bars and lounges in recent weeks with the same type of offer.
In the past the SPS has issued similar advisories about the same type of activity and has charged a male with committing the offence. However, there have been new complaints filed recently.
Residents should be reminded that purchasing stolen property is a criminal offence.
