On May 26th, 2008 Saskatoon Police attended a motor vehicle accident in a school zone.
A young student had run onto the roadway from the sidewalk, and into the side of a SUV. The student received minor injuries to his foot.
Police reported that as a result of the SUV driver operating the well within the reduced speed limit of 30 km/hr in the school zone, the driver prevented this accident from becoming a major incident.
Saskatoon Police would like to remind motorists to slow down within the school speed zones, and be aware that students may be distracted with outdoor activities and the warmer weather. Remind your children about road safety and to look both ways before crossing the road, and to play well away from the street and intersections.
