SPS, RCMP, SGI Team Up To Make Roads Safer

Saskatoon Police Service and Saskatoon RCMP are hosting a roadside check involving the Multi Agency Seat Belt Team (MASTeam), to help improve safety on our province’s roads.

MASTeam is made up of representatives of all enforcement agencies in the province with a common dedication to road safety in Saskatchewan. The focus of MASTeam’s work is seat belt enforcement.
The SPS & RCMP, in conjunction with all enforcement agencies and SGI, will be holding safety check stops in and around Saskatoon, Wednesday, June 25th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 pm and Thursday, June 26th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Enforcement officers will be on the lookout for vehicle operators and passengers that are not wearing their seat belts.
“We are pleased to be hosting MASTeam here in Saskatoon. This traffic safety blitz is indicative of our commitment to saving lives and reducing injuries, as we work towards accomplishing Road Safety Vision 2010 – to make Canada’s roads the safest roads in the world.” said Sgt. Tim Korchinski of SPS Traffic Unit.
Law enforcement agencies involved in MASTeam include the RCMP, municipal police services, the CN Police and the provincial Highway Transport Patrol.
This check stop is an example of the ongoing commitment SGI and provincial law enforcement agencies have to working together for safer roads in Saskatchewan.
