Two Saskatoon males are in hospital following an armed robbery and a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle.
Just before 3:00 a.m. officers spotted a purple Dodge Neon on Wilson Crescent. The vehicle had been reported stolen and may have been involved in an armed robbery minutes before at a gas station on Highway 11 South. Patrol members attempted to stop the car however the suspects rammed a stopped police vehicle and kept going. A police pursuit followed for just under two minutes with speeds reaching 120 kms. Stop sticks were being deployed when the suspect vehicle attempted to run into the officers. The vehicle then avoided the stop sticks and drove the wrong direction onto the 8th Street off ramp exiting the Sid Buckwold Bridge. It collided head on with a minivan.
The two suspects suffered non life-threatening injuries and were taken to Royal University Hospital by MD Ambulance. The two female occupants of the minivan suffered minor injuries. Police members involved were not injured.
A 21 year old Saskatoon man is facing numerous charges including; 2 counts of Assault With a Weapon, Failure to Stop for Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Driving While Suspended, Robbery, and Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000.
A 23 year old Saskatoon man is facing charges of Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, and Breach of Undertaking.
The men will appear in court on the charges when they are released from hospital.
Further charges relating to the armed robbery on Highway 11 and a previous armed robbery in Martensville on July 2nd are being investigated by the RCMP.
