Crime Spree Ended By Police

A spree of criminal behavior was ended today with the arrest of a 20 year old male, in a field near McOrmand Rd. and Hwy 5 at 1:46 pm.

The male had walked away from a correctional center work crew in the city on July 8, 2008.

The RCMP hold a warrant from an incident on August 20, 2008 in which a stolen Ford Escape was pursued on Highway 11. This warrant was for Dangerous Driving causing Bodily Harm. The suspect was not located at this time.

On the 29th of August the Saskatoon Police attempted to stop a stolen motor scooter, the suspect fled but the scooter was recovered.

11:48 am September 5, 2008 the male was observed driving a stolen Ford half ton with stolen Alta. plates on it. The police were able to track him and at one point he left the city. At this time the RCMP assisted. At one point the stolen vehicle drove over a spike belt but it was not disabled. He eventually abandoned the stolen vehicle on Willowgrove crescent . An observant citizen was able to alert police about the suspect and he was arrested in an open field.

Members of the Break and Enter unit interviewed the suspect and will be laying charges for Break and Enter and other property related offenses.

The male will appear in court Monday September 8, 2008 at 9:00 am on numerous charges.
