The Saskatoon Police have closed down the 1500 Block of 9th Avenue north at approximately 2:30 p.m. in regards to a call of a distraught male inside his residence.
Due to the close proximity and the nature of the call, police and school officials took precautionary measures and placed two schools in the area on a lock down. Approximately 20 children in the before and after school program at a school in the 1500 Block of 9th Avenue North are with teachers inside the building until they can be picked up by parents.
Parents retrieving their children from that school are advised to park on the west side of the building on the street and go to the west facing doors. They will need to present identification before obtaining their child.
At this point police are still at the scene, and continuing their investigation into the original call.
Motorists and residents of the area are asked to take a different street or avenue to get home.
