The Saskatoon Police Service is warning the public about a recent Internet scam.
Fraudsters posing as a local auto dealership are prompting loan applicants to visit web page onixadvisorsgrp.com. Once there applicants are asked to provide personal banking information which the fraudsters then use for illegal purposes.
Loan applicants are asked to send a $1,000.00 money gram to an individual in Saskatoon. The money is actually picked up in Ontario, and not only is the victim out $1,000.00, but their personal banking information has now been given out.
The victims are left with the impression that Saskatoon is the home of the fraudsters, when in fact the auto dealership and Saskatoon are not involved with the scam.
Anyone with information on this scam is asked to call Saskatoon Police Service at 975-8300, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or leave a tip online at www.saskatooncrimestoppers.com.
