Two Police Canine Teams successfully located and apprehended a male who attempted to flee from Police in Saskatoon early this morning.
Shortly after midnight, September 26th, 2008 Patrol Officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Preston Avenue and Main Street. When they attempted to pull the vehicle over it fled, traveling at approximately 80 kms/hr until the male driver stopped the vehicle in the 1000 block of Munroe Avenue and fled on foot.
Shortly after the Canine Teams began tracking the suspect. The male suspect was located about an hour later, hiding in the 1400 block of Main Street.
A 35 year old Saskatoon male has been charged with one count of Dangerous Driving and one count of Failing to Stop For Police. He was scheduled to appear in Provincial Court today, September 26th, 2008.
The use of Canine Teams is one of the many effective resources used by Police in the pursuit of offenders in many different situations, including dangerous driving.
