Two Saskatoon youths were taken into custody following a criminal pursuit of a stolen vehicle and a successful track by the Saskatoon Police Service Canine Unit.
Early this morning police received a report of a truck that had been stolen from Avenue U South. Then, at approximately 3:00 a.m. officers on patrol noticed the vehicle being driven in the area of Avenue J South. The patrol car pursued the truck at low speeds from Avenue S South to Avenue P South. The pursuit lasted for approximately nine minutes and was called off due to slippery road conditions. A few minutes later a second officer spotted the truck abandoned on Avenue I South. The Canine Unit was brought in and together with Patrol, was able to track the suspects to the backyard of a home in the 800 block of Avenue J South.
Two suspects were taken into custody. A 13 year old male is charged with Possession of Stolen Property, and Breach of Probation and will appear in Provincial Court Friday, November 14th. The second youth, an 11 year old male, was returned to the youth facility in which he is residing.
