Vehicle Driven In To Building.

At 10:01 PM, Monday, December 29th, SPS members responded to an alarm at a business located in the 1600 block of 29th Street West. Once at the scene officers were able to determine that a vehicle had been driven into the front of the building causing extensive damage. Upon reviewing video surveillance and after recovering pieces of the offending vehicle from the scene, officers were able to determine the type of vehicle responsible.

At 10:47 PM the suspect vehicle was located by Police, near 36th Street and Idylwyld Drive. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants jumped from the moving SUV, and ran on foot. Fortunately the vehicle rolled down the street and struck the center median, causing no additional damage. Officers engaged in foot pursuit and were able to apprehend the driver of the suspect vehicle a short ways away. The suspect was found in possession of a large machete style knife.

A police service dog was brought to the scene, but a subsequent track was unsuccessful.

A 19 year old Saskatoon male is in custody, charged with mischief over 5000 dollars, possession of a weapon and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
