SPS Promotes First Female Inspector

The Saskatoon Police Service has promoted its first female officer to the position of Inspector.
Shelley Ballard is a 20 year veteran of the Service. She has served in a wide variety of capacities including Patrol, the Community Response Unit (bicycle detail), the Beat, Planning and Research, and Watch Commander. Inspector Ballard was also the co director of the 2006 International Association of Women Police Conference.
Inspector Ballard is the officer in charge of Central Division which encompasses the neighbourhoods of Riversdale, King George, Pleasant Hill, Meadowgreen, Mount Royal, Westmount, Caswell Hill, City Park, Hudson Bay Park, and the downtown business district. Inspector Ballard says she looks forward to working with the community to address crime, “Each area has its own challenges, but I plan to work closely with residents and business owners in meeting those challenges and making neighbourhoods safer.”
