Saskatoon Police responded to two robberies only minutes apart early this morning.
The first occurred at a business located on Assiniboine Drive and Warman Road at approximately 4:23 AM. Four male suspects entered the business and demanded that everyone lay on the floor. The suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts, baggy pants and bandannas, stole cigarettes, cash and a customer's wallet. No one was injured in the robbery.
Only moments later a 9-1-1 call reporting a robbery in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North was received by Police.
Two males aged 34 and 38, were sprayed in the face with an aerosol propellant, and then robbed of a small amount of tobacco. Both were treated and released at the scene by members of MD Ambulance.
A short time later, five suspects were stopped and arrested in the 1600 block of 20th Street West. A container of a spray used to repel Bears was found in their vehicle. Three males, aged 18, 19 & 22 as well as two females aged 22 and 23 years of age have been charged with Robbery and will appear in Provincial Court later today. In addition, two of the individuals were found Breaching their Court Ordered conditions, and will face charges in relation to this.
The investigation into both these occurrences will continue, as it is unknown at this time if the two robberies are related.
