In the spring of 2008, the city of Saskatoon experienced a significant amount of motorcycle collisions involving injury and death. A significant proportion of those involved learners and new riders.
In an effort to prevent some of these tragedies, the Saskatoon Police Service will be noticeably stepping up traffic enforcement as it relates to motorcycles. Over the next month, police officers will be setting up inspection stations as well as conducting targeted traffic stops aimed at enforcing driver's licence provisions and equipment regulations.
Members of the public are invited to visit the Saskatoon Police Service website and click on the “Focus of the Month” icon for more information about motorcycle equipment regulations (www.saskatoonpolicesrvice.ca).
