A 27 year old Saskatoon man is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court this morning on a number of firearm and drug related charges.
The arrest stems from a traffic stop at approximately 6:00 p.m., January 24th, in the 600 block of 33rd Street West. During a search of the vehicle officers found drugs including morphine and marijuana. Based on information gathered during the traffic stop and arrest, officers then executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue North.
Inside the home they found numerous rounds of ammunition, a rifle, shotgun, and two handguns. They also found a number of drugs and drug paraphernalia, a stolen half ton truck, a stolen snowblower and more than $5000 in cash.
The 27 year old male is facing six firearm and weapon related charges, one charge of possession of stolen property over $5000 (half ton truck), one charge of possession of stolen property under $5000 (snowblower), one charge of proceeds obtained during the commission of an offence (cash over $5000), one charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking (hydromorphone), and three charges of possession (morphine, marijuana, ecstasy).
Further charges may be laid as the investigation continues.
