On September 10th at approximately 10:39 a.m. police spotted a stolen 1998 Chevy pickup truck being operated near Lorne Avenue and 8th Street East. The lone officer awaited back up before attempting to stop the vehicle as it traveled northbound over the Sid Buckwold Bridge.
Upon attempting to stop the vehicle it took evasive action and traveled northbound on Idylwyld Drive towards 22nd Street. A tire deflation device was deployed which deflated one of the tires on the stolen vehicle. However, the vehicle continued northbound on Idylwyld Drive. As it attempted to navigate through the intersection at 23rd Street it struck another vehicle which was stopped. The lone occupant of this vehicle was not injured. The suspect vehicle continued northbound where police lost sight of it. The stolen truck was recovered a short time later, abandoned nearby. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
