Memorial Tree To Be Planted Honouring Fallen Police And Peace Officers

On Sunday, October 2, 2016, members of the Saskatoon Police Service will be joined by Police and Peace Officers from a number of agencies to mark the planting of a Memorial tree at the Treeternity Memorial Forest.

The Saskatchewan Police and Peace Officers Memorial Committee in conjunction with Treeternity Memorial Forest, will be holding g a parade and ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. All Police and Peace Officers, both active and retired, as well as the general pubic are invited to attend.

“The tree will stand as a long-term monument to those officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice,” says Staff Sergeant Grant Obst. “Special thanks to Treeternity staff that came up with the idea and have provided the plot, tree and commemorative plaque honouring Police and Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty.”

The Memorial tree will commemorate the sacrifice that 61 Police and Peace Officers have made in Saskatchewan.

Treeternity Memorial Forest is located 1.5 kilometers south of the town of Vanscoy.
