A 29 year old man and an 18 year old woman are facing charges following an incident where a suspect vehicle evaded police and led to a traffic stop of a second vehicle.
Just before 3:00 p.m., October 19, 2016, an officer attempted to stop a silver Chevrolet Impala at Avenue I and 22nd Street West. Instead of stopping, the suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high speed, driving in the wrong lanes of traffic. Officers immediately discontinued their efforts to stop the vehicle, however other officers in the area spotted the same suspects abandoning the Impala and entering a Dodge Dakota truck.
At 3:30 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop of the truck at 20th Street and Avenue H. Several occupants were inside, including a 29 year old man who attempted to flee from Police. A struggle ensued, at which time a Canine officer and the suspect received minor injuries. The suspect was later treated for the injury. He is facing charges of Assaulting a Peace Officer, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Possession of Hydromorphone, Breach of Conditional Sentence Order and Breach of Undertaking. The Canine officer suffered a shoulder injury during this arrest and received treatment.
The 18 year old woman located at the scene, is believed to have been the driver involved in the first incident, and was taken into custody. She is now facing charges of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Evade Police, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking.
Both were found to be wanted on outstanding criminal warrants.
