Saskatoon Police are investigating numerous break and enters which occurred to businesses, homes and garages on Saskatoon's east side over the weekend.
Out of 12 break and enters reported, seven businesses were broken into, along with one work site trailer. The break ins occurred in all areas of the east side. City-wide break and enters are up over last year with 1952 reported so far in 2016, compared to 1930 reported in 2015.
The SPS advises businesses to take steps to help prevent break ins if they have not already. Consider alarms and surveillance video, keep valuables locked away, ensure there is adequate lighting and, be aware of and report suspicious activity to police immediately. Homeowners should ensure doors and windows are locked, keys, garage door openers, and valuables are removed from vehicles. Homeowners may also want to consider video and alarm systems. It is also important to record serial numbers for items of value in the event they should be recovered.
