Police are searching for a suspect after a minor collision early this morning developed in to a "point firearm" investigation. Just before 2:00 AM Thursday morning, police were called to a minor collision on Hwy 7 west of the city. As officers were on the way more information was received indicating that one of the motorists involved had driven away from the collision scene without sharing any information. The second motorist followed and the two vehicles eventually stopped at 22nd Street West and Betts Ave.
Both drivers became involved in an argument at this point, with one of the driver's retrieving a long-barrelled firearm from his vehicle and pointing it at the second driver. The armed suspect then left the area on foot in a southerly direction.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approx. 40 years of age, wearing a black toque, and a black jacket. When last seen he was carrying what is thought to be a .22 caliber rifle. No shots were fired and no one was injured. Damage to both vehicles as a result of the collision was minimal. Police have impounded the vehicle the suspect was driving and the investigation is continuing.
