On Monday 19th December 2016 at 00:50am, a stolen SUV was spotted by Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) officers being driven in the area of 8th Street and Clarence Avenue. When the marked patrol car attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver of the stolen vehicle failed to pull off and attempted to evade the police.
Stop Sticks were deployed successfully by other responding officers and after a short time the stolen vehicle was unable to move further due to most of the tyres being flat.
2 male occupants were arrested. The 18 year old driver was transported to hospital for treatment of a minor cut on his arm and the 17 year old passenger was transported to SPS cells.
Both arrested suspects are facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5000 and flight from police. In addition the driver had outstanding criminal warrants and will also be breached on his conditions from a pervious court release document.
They are expected to appear in front of a Justice of the Peace on Monday evening.
