A 29 year old man is facing charges following an incident early yesterday morning.
Patrol Officers were responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle at approximately 1:20 a.m., December 17, 2017. Members of the Air Support Unit had witnessed the vehicle stopping outside a residence in the 200 block of Avenue O South. The occupants of the vehicle then entered the residence. As officers responded to the home, ASU officers saw one male flee through the front door. An officer on the ground gave chase before catching up to the suspect. He refused to stop and a physical struggle ensued in which the officer was struck in the face. The suspect then again attempted to flee before being brought into custody by a Canine team. The suspect suffered minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
He is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer, breach of probation, and breach of recognizance.
