A loaded shotgun, edged weapons and drugs were seized after a search warrant was executed on Wednesday night by the SPS Guns & Gangs Unit.
The Guns & Gangs Unit was conducting an investigation into drug trafficking and the possession of firearms. As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was served at approximately 10:20 p.m., January 4, 2017, at a residence in the 100 block of Avenue K South with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit and Crisis Negotiators. Officers seized a loaded shotgun, ammunition, an axe, a machete and a sword, as well as small quantities of methamphetamine and hydromorphone from the residence.
Prior to the service of the search warrant, two males were observed leaving the residence. One of the males was arrested but the other refused to stop for Police. After a foot pursuit, Officers apprehended the 30-year-old male in an alley at 19th Street between Avenues K and J.
The 30-year-old man was arrested on outstanding warrants and is facing new charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone, Careless Storage of Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (x4), Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of Offence, Prohibited Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, and Breach of Undertaking (x4). He will make his next appearance in Provincial Court on January 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. (Court Info # 36659201, 36659202).
A 36-year-old man is charged with Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine. He will make his next appearance in Provincial Court on February 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. (Court Info # 44668264).
