A 40 year old male is in Police custody following a short foot pursuit.
On March 3, 2017 at 10:10 a.m., an Officer assigned to the Traffic Unit observed a male pedestrian with a placard who was distracting drivers at the intersection of Circle Drive and Avenue C North. When the Officer stopped and asked the male for identification he refused and ran across six lanes of traffic. He was quickly taken into custody by Police with the assistance of a passerby after a short foot pursuit.
The male was charged with Stunting, Pedestrian Disobey Red Traffic Light, and Pedestrian Walk Into the Path of a Moving Vehicle under the Traffic Safety Act. He was charged with Obstruction and Breach of Undertaking under the Criminal Code. He was also arrested on five outstanding Criminal Code warrants.
The male will make an initial court appearance before a Justice of the Peace the evening of March 3, 2017.
