A 29 year old Saskatoon man has been taken in to custody and is facing charges as a result of a situation that occurred at a residence in the 700 block of McCormack Road.
Just after 5:30 AM Saturday morning the Saskatoon Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence. The 911 operator was able to hear what sounded like a fight, however she was unable to get anyone to talk on the phone. Police attended and were met by a male who was acting erratically and making verbal threats toward the attending officers. There was also a 27 year old woman and four children at the residence. The woman and children were removed by police, however the male continued with his threatening demeanor and made more threats eluding to the use of a firearm. The woman, who was the resident of the home, was transported to hospital by MD ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
SPS Crisis Negotiators along with members of the Tactical Support Unit (TSU) were deployed to the scene. The suspect refused to come out of the house. Officers eventually entered the home and the man was taken into custody just after 12:45 P.M. He was transported to hospital by MD Ambulance to be checked over. No firearms were found in the home. Traffic restrictions have been removed.
The suspect is charged with domestic assault, uttering threats, and breaching a conditional sentencing order. He will see a Justice of the Peace later today.
