Officer Injured/Traffic Restrictions-Idylwyld And 33rd Street - Stolen Auto Suspect Search

Saskatoon Police are in the area of Idylwyld Drive and 33rd Street at this time, searching for a suspect in a stolen auto investigation in which an officer was struck by the vehicle and injured.

Motorists are being asked to avoid that area.

The officer has been transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious but non life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 3:55 p.m., March 21, 2017, Police received a call that a vehicle had just been stolen from an address on Edmonton Avenue. An officer then spotted the vehicle in the 300 block of Avenue T North and attempted to stop it. The investigation is preliminary at this time, however it is believed the officer was struck by the stolen vehicle at Idylwyld Drive and 33rd Street. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene on foot.

A media availability will be held at 5:20 p.m. at the north-east corner of Idylwyld Drive and 33rd Street in a business parking lot.
