Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Targeted Enforcement Unit are investigating another suspicious package which had been sent to a local business.
At approximately 9:00 a.m, March 30, 2017, Police and members of the Saskatoon Fire Department Hazardous Material Unit were called to the 300 block of 21st Street East. An employee at the business reported receiving a package containing a suspicious powder. The powder was deemed to be non hazardous and all emergency crews have now cleared the scene.
This is the sixth suspicious package in Saskatoon in recent weeks. Fortunately all were found to be non hazardous.
Anyone who may be handling mail should do so with caution. If the package or envelope appears suspicious in nature:
- do not handle more than necessary
- isolate the area: prevent people access to stop the spread of possible contamination
- call 9-1-1
- report suspicious activity to Saskatoon Police at 306-975-8355 or remain anonymous by reporting to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
