The Saskatoon Police Service is pleased to have been named a Saskatchewan Top Employer for the fifth year in a row.
The SPS is among more than two dozen Saskatchewan companies to be chosen following a competition, which will be highlighted in "Saskatchewan's Top Employers", a supplement to the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and the Regina Leader-Post.
The SPS offers it's members many experiences in their careers as police officers. Once hired, officers spend time in patrol and then can choose to move into a variety of areas of expertise including; forensics, major crime and economic crime. They can also work on special teams including; the Tactical Support Unit, the Explosives Disposal Unit, and Crisis Negotiations.
The Service is also dedicated to reflecting the population in Saskatoon in enhancing the diversity of it's members. "It's a positive thing for the police service and for the community to have so many of our sworn officers reflecting the culture of the community in which they serve - not only having them within the organization but actually seeing them out in the community wearing the uniform," says Deputy Chief Mark Chatterbok.
