Additional Charges Laid In Relation To School B&E's

Two youth are facing additional charges as a result of an investigation by School Resource Officers into seven break and enters at schools since the beginning of April.

The break and enters occurred at schools in the 200 block of Ave S South, 200 block of Montreal Avenue North, and the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Northumberland Avenue. The break-in's occurred on April 4, 7, 12 and 13, 2017.

The 13-year-old male is facing seven counts of Mischief. The 15-year-old male is facing two counts of Mischief.

This investigation is ongoing.


On April 20, 2017 at 01:13 a.m. police were investigating a break and enter just over with at Pleasant Hill Elementary School when an alarm was received from King George Elementary School located in the 700 block of Avenue K South.  Police quickly relocated to the second school with patrol and canine units, members identified a break and enter in progress and surrounded the building.

Three males aged 10 years, 13 years and 15 years were captured by police as they attempted to flee the crime scene.  There is evidence to suggest the males were involved in a rash of recent similar offences including the break and enter to Pleasant Hill, the investigation continues and additional charges are likely to follow.

The 13 and 15 year old boys are in custody and facing charges of break and enter and commit theft; they are believed to be responsible for thousands of dollars in damages.

The 10 year old boy; too young to face criminal charges; was released to his parents.
