At 7:50 p.m. on May 1, 2017 police were called to a residence in the 300 block of Avenue K South for an unknown problem. Upon arrival, police discovered that an altercation had occurred inside and a male had discharged a pellet gun. As a result, Police have charged a 19 year old male with several firearms related offences (Careless Use of a Firearm, Carrying a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Possession a Firearm Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm).
Police were also able to identify this male as one of the individuals involved in the shooting incident that occurred in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West on April 30th (Media Release 2017-0357, Occurrence 2017-41699). For this event he has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Carrying a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Possession a Firearm Obtained by Crime and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order.
An investigation is continuing into a possible shooting that took place just before 3:30 PM Sunday afternoon. Police were called to the 2200 block of 22nd St. West after witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun, being chased by two other men, one of which was also armed with a firearm. Witnesses also indicated they heard a shot as the first man ran into a business located on 22nd Street. Officers attended but were not able to locate any of the involved parties.
No physical evidence of a gunshot was found and there were no reported injuries.
