Arrests - Robbery - Clarence Avenue And Taylor Street East

Two women, ages 26 and 31, are facing charges after robbing a cab driver of his vehicle and fleeing from Police early this morning.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., May 18, 2017, Police received a report of a robbery in progress at Clarence Avenue and Taylor Street East. Upon arrival, Police located a cab driver who relayed that two women had entered his cab. One woman produced a knife and demanded the driver exit the vehicle. One of the suspects entered the drivers seat and proceeded to leave the area. Police located the vehicle near Laurentian Drive a few minutes later and attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle refused to stop for Police. The vehicle was observed driving into Lakeview Park before colliding with a fence. The suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but were arrested and taken into custody.

The victim was not injured.

The 31-year-old woman is charged with Robbery, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Drive While Disqualified and Breach of Probation.

The 26-year-old woman is charged with Robbery, Theft of Motor Vehicle and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

Both women will appear in Provincial Court at 2 p.m. on May 18, 2017. (Court Info #s 991012665, 991012668, 991012669)
