Shortly after 5:00 p.m., Sunday May 28, 2017, Saskatoon Police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle near 12th Street and Weldon Avenue. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and evaded police. The vehicle eventually parked in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Betts Avenue.
Three suspects exited the vehicle. The driver refused to follow an officer’s commands and attempted to leave the scene. The officer then physically apprehended the suspect bringing him into custody. The 28-year-old male was charged with evade police, dangerous driving (x2), possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of probation.
Officers located a hand gun inside a backpack. It was found to be an air soft pistol.
The two passengers were located in the area when other officers arrived on scene. One of them, a 38-year-old male, was charged for obstruction of justice.
