Saskatoon Police are currently investigating after an evade police incident.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., June 19, 2017, Patrol officers observed a stolen vehicle in the area of Avenue D North and 33rd St West. The Air Support Unit was able to ascertain the vehicle and tracked it to Clearwater Place where Patrol officers attempted a high risk traffic stop. The suspect vehicle, with an unknown number of occupants, rammed at least one police cruiser in their attempts to flee. ASU continued to track the suspect vehicle until it was involved in a collision at the intersection of Airport Drive and Circle Drive.
The male driver of the suspect vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been confirmed.
An SPS member who was in the Patrol car that was struck on Clearwater Place, was transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
Major Crime, Forensic Identification and the Collision Analyst Unit are continuing to investigate. More information will be released tomorrow morning by Public Affairs.
