On January 19, 2017 members from the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested Rhett LUNDGREN (DOB 1977-03-03) in Saskatoon, SK. LUNDGREN was subsequently charged with Possession of Child Pornography, contrary to Section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code after child pornography was located on devices seized from LUNDGREN on December 8, 2016. LUNDGREN was also charged with two counts of Breaching an Undertaking, contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.
In addition, LUNDGREN was arrested for Sexual Exploitation, contrary to Section 153(a) of the Criminal Code and Luring contrary to Section 172.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. These charges relate to an incident from 2009 involving a student at the school where LUNDGREN was a teacher at the time. This incident was recently brought to the attention of the Red Deer RCMP after the victim reported the incident. LUNDGREN made his first appearance on the above charges at 9:00 AM on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Saskatoon Provincial Court and was remanded in custody until Wednesday January 25, 2016 at 10:30 AM where he will appear again at Saskatoon Provincial Court.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the R.C.M.P., Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
