Officers arrested five people early this morning after they attempted to evade Police.
Shortly after 3:00 a.m., July 14, 2017, Officers on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Avenue C North and 36th Street West. When they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle refused to stop and evaded Police.
The Air Support Unit quickly located the suspect vehicle and observed it crash into a rock boulevard on the 300 block of Circle Drive East. Five people were seen exiting the vehicle and running northbound on foot. The Canine Unit quickly located and arrested three suspects in an alley without incident. The ASU located a fourth suspect attempting to hide in a shipping container on Faithfull Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident. Moments later, the Canine Unit located the fifth suspect nearby. After refusing to respond to officer's commands, the suspect was apprehended by the Police Service Dog and taken into custody by the Canine officer. This suspect received a minor injury from the dog bite, which was treated by MD Ambulance.
It is not yet known if the vehicle was stolen but the owner of the vehicle is known to the suspects.
All five of the suspects, two females (ages 28 and 30), and three males, (ages 25, 28 and 25), were arrested for Evading Police, Dangerous Driving and Possession of Stolen Property.
Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
