Charges have been laid against a man who attempted to evade Police in a stolen vehicle early this morning.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., July 19, 2017, Saskatoon Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a car without a licence plate. It was observed in the area of McPherson Avenue and Bute Street. The driver refused to pull over and evaded Police. The SPS Air Support Unit monitored the suspect vehicle as it drove out of city limits and then back in at the north end, all the while speeding and driving erratically. In that time, numerous tire deflation devices were deployed but were unsuccessful in debilitating the car.
The suspect vehicle came to a stop at a dead end on Battleford Trail. The ASU observed the driver exit the vehicle and hide underneath construction equipment. The ASU was able to guide ground units to the suspect where he was arrested without incident.
The vehicle was found to have been stolen. A 38 year old male was charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, Evading Police and Dangerous Driving.
