Additional Information - Attempted Murder And Utter Threats - Spadina Crescent And 23rd Street

Further to the previous release, the Saskatoon Police Service wishes to reassure the public that this incident was not random in nature. The suspect and the victim are known to each other.

The victim remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.


Saskatoon Police have arrested and charged a 25 year old male with Attempted Murder, Utter Threats, and Breach of a Court Order after an incident at Spadina Crescent and 23rd St. early this morning.

At approximately 7:33 a.m. July 23, 2017, officers responded to an assault in progress at Spadina Cres. and 23rd Street. A 57 year old gentleman in a motorized wheelchair was exercising his dog when he was attacked and threatened. The victim was pulled from his wheel chair and violently assaulted. He was transported to Royal University Hospital and is listed in critical condition with multiple head injuries.

A foot pursuit with the suspect ensued and he was apprehended in the downtown area a short time later. He will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court tomorrow morning.

The investigation is continuing.
