The Saskatoon Police Service has received numerous reports of unsecured loads on city streets and roadways this summer. The SPS would like to remind the public that it is illegal to haul items without proper restraints. Whether you’re moving furniture or hauling branches and leaves to the landfill, you must have items secured in/to your vehicle.
Under the municipal bylaw, allowing waste to escape your vehicle or carrying an unsecured load, could result in a fine of $100. While driving on the highway with an unsecured load, drivers could be issued a $175 ticket under the Highways and Transportation Act.
The SPS would like to remind the public to keep everyone safe by using proper covers, straps and restraints before hauling your next load down the road.
