One Arrested - Evade Police/Collision With Patrol Vehicle - Matheson Drive/Macklem Drive

An 18 year old Saskatoon man is facing a number of charges after evading police early this morning.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., January 23, 2017, a patrol officer spotted a Chrysler Intrepid being driven in an erratic manner. The officer began to follow. The suspect vehicle attempted to evade the officer and entered an alley in the 1100 block of Matheson Drive. The driver then suddenly braked causing a collision with the police vehicle behind it. The suspect vehicle then proceeded onto Macklem Drive where the driver abandoned the car and fled on foot.

A Canine officer arrived on scene and was able to successfully track the suspect to a home on Matheson Place. The man was located hiding inside.

The 18 year old is now facing charges of Assault With a Weapon, Evade Police and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace (bear spray). He was also found to have no valid drivers license, to be in breach of court conditions and was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The vehicle involved was unregistered.
