Two women from Prince Albert and a man with no fixed address are facing 69 charges following an incident in which a U-Haul van attempted to evade police.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., August 27, 2017, Patrol officers spotted the van being driven in a suspicious manner in the 600 block of Confederation Drive. The officers attempted a traffic stop, however the driver refused to pull over and instead drove in a dangerous manner. Members of the Air Support Unit then assisted additional officers on the ground, who were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device. The vehicle was then abandoned on Dalmeny Road and the three suspects ran from the vehicle and attempted to hide in a field. A responding Canine Unit and patrol members were able to locate the three and take them into custody. One female suspect suffered minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating bags of identification and credit cards belonging to other people.
The 31 year old male driver is facing charges of Evade Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Identity Documentation.
The 26 year old female is facing charges including Possession of Identity Documents, Possession of a Controlled Substance (hydromorphone), Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Probation.
The 21 year old female is facing charges including Possession of Identity Documents and Possession of Stolen Property.
The three are expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court this afternoon.
