On August 29, 2017 at 8:29 p.m., police were called to the river near the CPR Train Bridge for a report of a male walking in the water. Police received a second call stating the male was now holding onto one of the pillars of the bridge. Police attended and located the intoxicated 37 year old male. Fire and Protective Services also attended with their rescue boat. The male was then retrieved from the water. Upon identification, police learned that the male was wanted in connection to a theft. He was taken into custody and has been charged with theft under $5000.00 in relation to this occurrence (17-10214).
