Man Charged After Being Found In Possession Of Loaded Sawed-off Rifle

Two men, ages 27 and 28, were arrested yesterday after being found concealing dangerous weapons.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., August 30, 2017, Patrol officers were responding to an unrelated call in the 2400 block of 22nd Street West when they observed two males acting suspiciously in the parking lot and attempting to avoid Police. Further investigation found the 28-year-old male to be in possession of a sawed off rifle, sawed off shotgun, an expandable baton, and several rounds of ammunition. The rifle was loaded at the time Police found it.

The second male was found to have a knife concealed in his backpack.

The 28-year-old man is facing charges of; Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (x3), Carrying Concealed Weapon (x3), Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthourized (x2), Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of Offence (x2), Careless Use of Firearm (x2) and Ammunition, Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order (x3), Possession of Hydromorphone, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, and Breach of Undertaking.
