A man from Canwood was arrested over the weekend after attempting to evade Police.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., October 8, 2017, Saskatoon Police officers were alerted by a concerned citizen that a Dodge truck had been driving erratically in the area of 34th Street West and Avenue D North. Upon checking the area, officers located a parked vehicle matching the witness description. When Police activated their emergency equipment to conduct a vehicle stop, the suspect vehicle quickly drove off. Officers followed the vehicle to Idylwyld Drive North and 39th Street where they disengaged due to public safety. Minutes later, Police were alerted that the suspect vehicle had struck a parked trailer in an alley behind a residence in the 1300 block of Avenue H South. Witnesses saw a man exit the truck and flee on foot. A canine track lead to 33rd Street West and Avenue J North where Patrol officers had taken the suspect into custody moments earlier.
A 26 year old male was charged with Evade Police, Dangerous Driving and Hit & Run, and was arrested on outstanding warrants. He was also believed to be involved in evading the RCMP in Shellbrook earlier in the day.
