Two people are in hospital and a total of 8 vehicles have been damaged in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred just before 6:15 PM Saturday evening.
Shortly after 6:00 PM police received a call about a silver Dodge Charger being driven erratically in the area of 11th Street E. and Eastlake Ave. A witness indicated that the occupants had been seen "staggering" as they got in the vehicle and drove off.
A few minutes later Police received another call regarding a silver Dodge Charger in the 400 block of 11th St. E. This time the caller indicated that it appeared a man and woman in the vehicle were fighting and the female had fallen out of the moving vehicle. The driver was reported to have stopped and picked the woman up and drove off.
At 6:13 PM Police received a report of a multi-vehicle collision in the 1000 block of University Drive. Police, SFD and MD Ambulance all responded. A man and woman were transported to hospital by MD Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The man was the operator of the Charger and the woman a passenger. Another male passenger in the vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival.
Investigators were able to establish that a Dodge Charger has been eastbound on University Drive when it struck several parked vehicles causing a chain - reaction pushing vehicles into other parked vehicles eventually causing damage to a total of 7 parked vehicles.
The investigation is continuing with charges pending against a 29 year old man from Cumberland House. Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors to the collision.
