At approximately 1:00 a.m., October 31, 2017, a 23 year old woman picked up a 24 year old man in the 800 block of Confederation Drive. She had posted an advertisement on social media offering transportation for money. She drove the man to a convenience store in the 3300 block of 33rd Street West. Upon arrival, the man assaulted the woman and stole her car. Minutes later, as the woman was speaking to Police, the male suspect contacted her and told her he would return her car to her. He soon arrived with her car to the 600 block of Idylwyld Drive North. Police conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and took the man into custody without incident. He was found to be in possession of cocaine.
The 24 year old male was charged with Robbery, Possession of Cocaine and Breach of Recognizance.
The Saskatoon Police would like urge the public to use legitimate transportation services, and not offer rides to strangers.
