A 35 year old male and 33 year old female from Calgary, Alberta are in Police custody after assaulting a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO).
On November 23, 2017, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Police attended to a business in the 300 block of Confederation Drive for a report of a LPO who had been assaulted by two shoplifters when he attempted to arrest them. The male and female suspects fled prior to Police arrival.
The LPO was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. the suspects were located in a parked vehicle in the in 700 block of Idylwyld Drive North. They were arrested without incident. Police seized from inside the vehicle property that had been stolen from the store, 2 grams of methamphetamine, stolen identification and stolen identification documents.
The male and female have been charged with Theft Under $5000, Assault and Possessing a Controlled Substance. Additional charges are pending.
They are expected to appear before a Justice of the Peace on the evening of November 24, 2017.
