Saskatoon Police have arrested and charged a 30 year old man in connection with the armed robbery of a bank on January 18, 2017. He was arrested following an incident overnight involving a stolen vehicle which evaded police who were attempting to stop it.
On January 27, 2017 at approximately 12:56 a.m. Patrol Officers observed a 2003 GMC Yukon that had been reported stolen outside of Saskatoon. The vehicle was travelling on Circle Drive by Warman Road.
After observing the vehicle for a distance, officers attempted a traffic stop. The suspects refused to stop and evaded police heading south on Spadina Crescent East. Ground units did not pursue the suspects and the Air Support Unit was able to assist in locating them after they fled from the stolen vehicle at 5th Avenue North and 23rd Street East. Canine Units and Patrol Officers were able to quickly apprehend the 30 year old male driver, a 27 year old male passenger and a 19 year old female passenger. The fourth occupant is still outstanding. During his arrest the driver sustained an injury consistent with a dog bite to his left calf and was transported to St. Paul’s Hospital to receive medical treatment. While the driver was being searched he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and $660.
Inside the vehicle police seized a loaded .22 calibre rifle and a machete.
The 30 year old male driver, the 27 year old male passenger and the 19 year old female are all facing firearm related charges and breaches. The driver faces additional charges of Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Proceeds of Crime Under $5000, Evade Police and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
The 30 year old male driver has been charged with offenses relating to the financial institution armed robbery. He has been charged with Robbery with a Handgun, Wearing a Disguise While Committing an Indictable Offense, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Using a Firearm While Committing an Indictable Offense, Pointing a Firearm While Committing an Indictable Offense, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, and Possessing a Firearm Contrary to Order. A second suspect is still wanted by Police.

Police are releasing surveillance images after the armed robbery of a financial institution yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 4:20 p.m., January 18, 2017, Police received a report that two males entered a financial institution in the 2800 block of 8th Street East. One of the males was reportedly armed with a handgun. They demanded cash and assaulted a male employee. The suspects fled in a vehicle prior to Police arrival.
Both male suspects are described as "younger", approximately 6' in height with slim builds. They both wore white masks, sunglasses, grey clothing and distinct-coloured footwear. Photos are attached for distribution. The vehicle they fled in is described as a newer dark-coloured Jeep Grand Cherokee style SUV.
